Ruarts gallery of actual art
There were two 4-storey townhouses that were to be unified and become an art gallery of 800 sq. m. total area. Architects removed the dividing bearing wall. As contemporary art needs just white walls the main focus of the space became the staircase.
read-about-project
The flights of stairs are turned on different angles on every floor. Some of them are enclosed in blind concrete volumes with stepped silhouette. It looks like they were thrown through the ceiling. For extra experience of the vertical structure there is a range of small gaps and glass parts in the ceilings. The last floor is private. So the space of it is not so forsefull as everywhere else in gallery. For example architects made a curved bar-counter.
