Homestead in Serebryanyi pinery: guest house

The guest house is a part of a big modern manor. But paradoxical its isolated image represents the architectural meaning of the whole complex.

The typical problem of blending a new structure into the landscape of an old extramural community (or in its wider meaning - into the natural context) is solved at several levels. The vivid manifestation of new ideas is the round aperture in the floor and ceiling slabs, and an old pine grows through it. A streamlined "boulder", which incorporates the stairs, symbolizes the assimilation of the natural shapes by the architecture. And a curvilinear monolithic structure, being simultaneously the building's walls and roof, transforms the ideas of integrity and unity with the wildlife into the constructive solutions.
