The First Architecture Biennale Presence of the Future was an exhibition in the metaverse dedicated to the development of architecture in the context of new technologies. The event took place online in September 2023 on the virtual platforms Decentraland and W3rlds. Its main aim was to explore the role of the architect in the development of the metaverse, as well as the potential of new business solutions at the intersection of technology and architecture.

ATRIUM took an active part in the Biennale, developing two distinctive pavilions in Decentraland and W3rlds, as well as the masterplan for the entire exhibition in Decentraland. The key aim of both projects was to bring together different architectural elements in order to observe and assess how users interact with them in virtual space, and how they perceive ATRIUM’s architectural ideas in a new format.

ATRIUM sees the metaverse as an environment for a new quality of architecture, capable of developing new aesthetic tools and approaches. The projects created for the Biennale represent an important contribution to the further development of this field in digital space. We consider the metaverse one of the most interesting and important media for architects, and believe that the projects developed as part of the Biennale can help shape new tools, aesthetics and design approaches within the studio.
