This year, the annual ARCHPOINT CONCEPT AWARDS focused on the theme of the “Russian code in interior design”. More than 100 submissions were received, 21 projects were shortlisted, and the winner was the public interiors project for Uzory Club House in Khamovniki.
The 2026 theme aligned closely with the internal logic of the project. The club house interiors continue the architecture of the building, developing its facade plasticity and its connection to the historical context of the district, where cultural heritage landmarks stand close to the site, including the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and late 19th- and early 20th-century houses. The jury particularly noted the integrity of the architectural solution, in which the interior becomes a natural continuation of the image of the house.
The concept is based on the image of a stone terem — an archetype of a protected, monumental space, interpreted through contemporary minimalism. Light surfaces bring the interior together into a single architectural volume with a calm mineral base. Textured wood and metal add depth in the places of touch, while red accents in furniture, decor and art objects introduce emotional tension and form the project’s distinctive character.
The central double-height space, the lobby, reveals the concept of Moscow stone architecture at its most ceremonial scale. Its main artistic gesture is a red spiral staircase that twists inside a circular opening, connects the levels and gives the interior a composed sense of movement.
Further on, the public spaces become more intimate, creating the atmosphere of an urban living room. Suspended sculptural wall lights, textured textiles, diffused light and works by contemporary Russian artists turn these areas into places for meetings, solitude and everyday rituals.
Special attention is given to a small world inside the larger house: a children’s lounge with a dense red curtain and a velvet horse, translating the theme of the Russian folk tale into a playful scale.
We congratulate the project team and thank the award jury for their high recognition of the work.
