The kindergarten plays a significant role in the development of every child, so it was important to design a space that would genuinely engage children — attracting their attention, activating their imagination, and creating new and unexpected settings for play, interaction and outdoor learning.
The building’s geometry is conceived in deliberate contrast to the surrounding high-rise development of ZIL. As a result, the kindergarten immediately stands out against its urban backdrop. The traditional silhouette of a pitched roof introduces a more comfortable and relatable scale, while the cantilevered projections and the complex geometry of the upper levels add an element of play: they develop the child’s spatial intelligence, cultivate new aesthetic sensibilities and broaden their perception of the world.
This spirit of discovery continues inside the building. At the entrance, children are greeted by a giant dinosaur whose neck stretches through a double-height space across two storeys. This kind of double-height interior enriches the child’s experience and creates a memorable wow effect. In the group rooms, the pitched roof sets the mood. Multi-level ceilings, light fittings at different heights and panoramic windows appear here. For a small child, such an open and light-filled space becomes an extension of the outside world — equally large and full of possibility.
The large dinosaur sculptures from the interior continue into the courtyard as well. Here, the playgrounds, with their distinctive forms and scales, resemble a contemporary park — these moderately complex solutions provide children with greater freedom of movement, exploration and choice. In addition to the play areas for each group, the site includes shared activity zones: two sports grounds, an interactive exhibition, and a tactile path with a variety of surface finishes, where in summer children can run barefoot and explore the world around them through touch.
